INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PLAY
The Play Matters Collective celebrates the first International Day of Play at Attadale Primary School.
Children need time to play. It's a fundamental human right that fosters development, builds resilience, and instills confidence. To integrate play into education and communities, we need effective policies, training, and funding.
The Play Matters Collective (PMC) is an affiliation of organisations and individuals with a shared vision to ensure children's right to play is supported across all levels of the WA community.
Western Australia Commissioner for Children and Young People, February 2022-Present
Together Play Matters Collective and I wish to become active leaders in enacting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, for all WA children and young people. Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that all children have the right to play.
Play is a critical component for children to use their imagination, solve problems, express their feelings and engage and communicate with others. That means without any exception, every child has the right to engage in play and engage in recreational activities appropriate to their age and to participate freely in cultural life and arts.
